About
Marcus Hale’s practice is built on a proposition that runs against nearly every financial incentive in dentistry: that a complicated mouth is better served by a treatment sequence measured in years than in visits.
Roughly half of the cases at River District Dental arrive by referral, often after another practice has declined them or after a previous restoration has failed. Hale’s response is almost always to slow down. Every full-arch case at the practice begins with a diagnostic period of at least three months before anything irreversible happens.
He keeps a lab occupying a third of his floor plate for the same reason. “The provisional is the treatment,” he says. “The final restoration is just the part that stops being adjustable.”
